We are a research organization studying the fundamental nature of systems and building technologies for applied transdisciplinary science.

Basic Systems Research

Basic, or fundamental scientific research is driven by curiosity — it aims for general understanding rather than answers to specific problems. We need an oasis where systems researchers can freely explore the fundamental nature of systems without immediate concern for practical applications or profitability.

Applied Systems Research

Basic research is essential, but can't operate in a vacuum. Theories must be validated through real world observation and experimentation. We are building tight feedback loops between abstract theory and applied science by exploring three emerging scientific fields that demand rigorous and systemic transdisciplinary approaches.

We build open-source tools that bridge theoretical and applied systems research. Our flagship project is BERT: the Bounded Entity Reasoning Toolkit for deep systems analysis.
